Moroccan Red Clay
Moroccan red clay is considered one of the more rare and pure clays of the earth. It is also known as Rhassoul (also Ghassoul) clay, which literally means "that which washes" in Arabic. Once reserved for Egyptian royalty, Moroccan Rhassoul clay has been used as cleanser and conditioner for hair and skin for centuries and continues to be a popular spa treatment in many world-class retreats. Abundant in magnesium, iron, calcium and potassium, red clay is reputed to clarify and moisturize the skin while improving texture and elasticity. In the same way that a paste of clay is applied to the face and body as a cleaner or detoxifying mask, Moroccan red clay can be used to regularly cleanse the hair and scalp instead of shampoo (although a dab of conditioner is recommended).
Ingredients
red clay (morocco)powder
How to use
- Mix equal parts of clay and water (rose water is a great alternative) till it forms a paste. For an even more intense, purifying mask, replace water with raw apple cider vinegar.
- Add a few drops of essential oil like lavender, rosemary, chamomile or lemongrass.
- Apply to a clean face (this is necessary as unclean skin won’t allow the mask to work its magic.
- Let it dry for 20 minutes. If you have dry skin, you don’t have to keep it on for so long. Just touch to feel if it is dry.
- Rinse off with warm water.
- Apply a high-quality, organic moisturiser afterwards to protect the skin and balance sebum production.
